This is installment #2 of our “14 Proven Benefits of IV Therapy” Series.
Cancer is basically defined as a disease in which abnormal cells divide and in turn destroy normal body cells and tissues through local and metastatic invasion. It is recognized as the second leading cause of death, only behind heart disease. It comes in many forms and invades every cell type, which include: breast, lung, colon, skin, prostate, and blood cells. Risk factors include genetics, smoking, poor dietary habits, exposure to environmental toxins, and viruses just to name a few.
Symptoms and signs depend on which type of cancer one has, where it is located, and if it has started to metastasize. Generally, the most common symptoms are:
- Nausea and vomiting
- Change in bowel or bladder habits
- Weight loss
- Fevers and infections
Although IV therapy, in no way, is curative of cancer, it can certainly aid in some of the symptoms associated with it. Dehydration, nausea, dizziness, fatigue and pain are definitely amenable to therapies that can be given via the intravenous route. Just getting fluids by themselves can help tremendously, but added meds for pain and nausea can also provide significant relief for those struggling, not only with the disease state but also with the therapies to treat it as well.
